2026–2027 School Year | Finish the First Grading Period Strong!
We are starting Week 5, which means we are getting close to our first grading period! Grades end Friday, September 18, 2026, at the end of Week 6. Students have two weeks to check their progress, complete assignments, ask for help, and show what they know. Now is the time to take action—not the night before grades close!
ACADEMICS – TWO WEEKS TO FINISH STRONG
Students, take a few minutes this week to look at every class and ask: Do I know where I stand?
-
Check Aeries and review each class grade.
- Look for missing or incomplete assignments.
-
Check Teams and/or OneNote for class information and assignments.
-
Use your agenda every day to stay organized.
- Talk to your teacher about concepts you do not understand.
-
Use Paper, our free 24/7 online tutoring resource, for additional help.
- Make a plan now for anything that needs attention before September 18.
Week 5 Challenge: Choose the class that needs the most attention and take one action this week to improve—complete an assignment, attend extra help, study, or talk with your teacher.
Remember: Your grade should reflect your learning and effort. Take ownership of it!
PBIS – THE WOODCREST WAY
Being successful academically also means making choices that help everyone learn.
BE RESPECTFUL
Listen when others are speaking, use appropriate language, respect personal space, and treat students, staff, and our campus with respect.
BE RESPONSIBLE
Arrive prepared and on time, bring your ID and materials, complete your work, follow school expectations, and take ownership of your choices.
BE SAFE
Keep hands and feet to yourself, make safe choices, follow adult directions, and tell a trusted adult when you see or experience something that is unsafe.
Continue earning PBIS Spirit Points for positive choices, attendance, participation, school spirit, and involvement.
Respectful. Responsible. Safe. It’s what Wolverines do every day.
MENTAL HEALTH & SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT – FIND YOUR BALANCE
As assignments, activities, and responsibilities increase, students may begin to feel more pressure. A busy week does not have to become an overwhelming week.
Try the PLAN – DO – RESET approach:
PLAN: Write down what needs to be completed and decide what is most important.
DO: Focus on one task at a time instead of trying to do everything at once.
RESET: Take a break, get enough sleep, move your body, and make time for something you enjoy.
Students, asking for help is a responsible choice. If school, friendships, stress, or something outside of school is affecting you, come talk with Miss Torres or Ms. Morales Garcia.
COMMUNITY & SCHOOL CONNECTION – LEARN, LEAD & GET INVOLVED
There are opportunities outside of Woodcrest for students and families to learn, connect, and build new skills.
ONTARIO
The Ontario City Library provides teen programs and spaces designed to support academic, recreational, and career goals. Students ages 13–17 can also explore volunteer opportunities that help build leadership and work-related skills.
Ontario's De Anza Community & Teen Center provides activities for teens that include recreation, enrichment, wellness, technology, arts, leadership opportunities, and other ways to connect with peers.
CHINO
The Chino Experience Teen Center serves students in grades 7–12, providing a supervised environment for teens to socialize, participate in activities, and connect with their community.
Chino also offers the Teen Opportunity Program (TOP) for youth ages 13–18 in grades 7–12. The program provides opportunities to volunteer with City programs and special events while developing leadership and interpersonal skills.
THIS WEEK’S CONNECTION CHALLENGE
With grades closing soon, make your Week 5 goal about connection and action:
Connect with a teacher. Help a classmate. Attend a school activity. Ask for help. Volunteer. Encourage someone.
Small positive choices add up—academically, socially, and personally.
With care,
Miss Torres & Ms. Morales Garcia
