2026–2027 School Year | First Week Complete!
Dear Students and Families,
We did it—our first week of the 2026–2027 school year is complete! It has been wonderful welcoming our Wolverines back to campus, establishing routines, and beginning a new year of learning, connection, and growth. As we move forward, our counseling team is here to support the whole student—academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.
ACADEMICS – START STRONG
The habits students establish now can make a big difference throughout the year. This week, encourage your student to:
-
Check Aeries regularly and know their grades.
-
Write assignments and important dates in their agenda every day.
-
Check Teams and/or OneNote for class information.
- Complete assignments on time.
-
Ask teachers for help before they begin falling behind.
-
Use Paper, our free 24/7 online tutoring resource, when additional academic support is needed.
Our goal is for every Wolverine to take ownership of their learning from the very beginning!
PBIS – THE WOODCREST WAY
Every day and everywhere on campus, we expect Wolverines to be:
BE RESPECTFUL
Treat students, staff, and our campus with kindness and respect.
BE RESPONSIBLE
Come prepared, complete your work, follow expectations, and take ownership of your choices.
BE SAFE
Make choices that keep yourself and others physically and emotionally safe.
Students can earn PBIS Spirit Points for positive choices, participation, attendance, school spirit, and involvement. Get connected, participate, and start earning those points!
MENTAL HEALTH & SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
A new school year can bring excitement, but it can also bring stress, nervousness, or uncertainty. Students should know that they do not have to handle challenges alone.
We encourage students to build connections with trusted adults, get enough sleep, create healthy routines, take breaks when needed, and reach out when something is bothering them.
Need support? Come see us! Our counseling team is here to listen, problem-solve, connect students with resources, and help them have a successful year.
COMMUNITY & SCHOOL CONNECTION – GET CONNECTED, ONTARIO!
Did you know that young people make up a significant part of our Ontario community? About 24.4% of Ontario residents are under age 18. That means supporting young people and preparing them for their futures is important to our entire community.
The City of Ontario offers several resources specifically for youth and teens. Ontario City Library provides teen spaces where students can study, read, connect with others, and participate in programs supporting their academic, recreational, and career goals. Ontario teens ages 13–17 can also participate in volunteer opportunities that provide community-service experience and help them build connections.
The City's Ontario Promise Corps also connects education from early literacy through college and includes middle-school youth mentoring and development as part of its mission to increase educational attainment for young people.
The De Anza Community & Teen Center offers additional opportunities including fitness and sports, STEM activities, a teen lounge, Wellness Wednesday, culinary activities, performing arts, and teen leadership opportunities.
Our message to students: School is about more than grades. Get involved. Build connections. Ask for help. Explore your interests. Make positive choices. The habits and relationships you build in junior high can help prepare you for high school, college, careers, and your future.
💜 Let’s make 2026–2027 a great year, Wolverines!
Be Respectful • Be Responsible • Be Safe
