8th Grade Promotion Invitation and Information Reminder
Dear 8th-grade students and families,
8th-grade promotion is right around the corner. 8th-grade students with a 2.0gpa and higher and no more than 2 U's in citizenship are invited to attend.
Promotion will begin at 9:30 am on May 21st. Parents and guests will need to line up outside of the south gate (near the library) until school has begun and we open the gates. There are no tickets or limits on the number of family members you can bring. Promotion will take place outside in our Quad/lunch area.
Students are not allowed to have their cell phone with them. Please keep student cell phones in the car or at home. Students will not need their backpacks or bags.
The following items are prohibited from being brought on campus:
No Balloons
No Banners / Signs / Flags
No Confetti Cannons
No Laser Pointers
No Noisemakers / Airhorns
No Selfie Sticks
No Vapes, drugs of any kind
No Smoking
No Alcohol
No Weapons of any kind
We will have a vendor from whom promotional items can be purchased after the ceremony.
At promotion, the school dress code still applies; below you will find dress code guidelines for promotion.
School/District Dress Code Click Here
1. Shoes or sandals must be worn by all students and must have a back strap. Heels are allowed, but low wedges or chunky heels are recommended.
2. Promotion is a semi-formal event; we ask that students do not dress in formal wear (i.e.. tuxedo, prom/wedding dresses, etc.)
3. If dresses are sleeveless or have spaghetti straps, a sweater/cardigan must be worn over the dress and must be a solid fabric (not see-through) (shawls are not permitted).
4. Skirts or dresses must follow the school dress code policy with regard to length (see student handbook)
5. No bare or open midriff
6. When wearing shirts, it is recommended that a button-down collar shirt is selected; shirts should be tucked into pants.
7. Pants must fit and be worn at the waist.
8. No Hats, no beanies
At the conclusion of the ceremony, students will go back into the MPR. Parents and guests will exit the gates between the Gym and MPR to meet their student. Since school is still in session, we will guide all guests off campus and close the gates. Families are welcome to take pictures in front of the school; our window coverings make great backdrops.
We look forward to a wonderful ceremony. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to call the office or email.
Have a good evening.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Taylor
Principal
