Woodcrest Wolverines Week of 3-16 to 3-20

April 20th - April 24th

Principal's Message

Dear Woodcrest Families,

Thank you to all the families who attended our Open House on April 15th. It was a pleasure seeing everyone on campus, and we hope you enjoyed viewing the incredible work our students have been doing this year in their classes.

This week marks our Testing Kick-Off Spirit Week as we prepare for state testing. Our theme is “Ride the Wave to Success!” Students are encouraged to show their school spirit by dressing up each day and getting excited for the week ahead. We will also have a school-wide assembly on Thursday morning to motivate and prepare our students.

This is the last week to purchase end-of-year field trip tickets!

Reminder: Tickets are on sale through April 24th:

8th Grade: Knott’s Berry Farm – $65.00

7th Grade: Castle Park – $45.00

Cash only. Don’t miss out on these exciting end-of-year experiences!

Looking ahead, CAASPP testing begins the week of April 27th and continues through May 8th. It is essential that students arrive on time each day and are present to do their best. Your support at home plays a key role in helping students feel prepared and confident.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s make it a great week, Wolverines!

Please ensure your student:

  • Arrives to school and each class on time.
  • Comes prepared and ready to learn each day.
  • Brings their school ID, charged laptop and charger, and all necessary materials.

Important Reminders:

  • Student ID badges must be worn daily. If a student does not have their ID they can go to the office to have one printed for them for the day. On the 3rd instance they will receive a lunch detention for not being responsible. It is the student's responsibility to wear it daily. ID Badges are used during lunch time to speed up the process for students getting their lunch in the lines. If students do not have their ID's on them they will be asked to go to the back of the line as to not hold up the lunch lines.

  • Hats and Hoods are not permitted to be worn on campus

  • No Gum on campus

  • Phones, ear buds, headphones, and all electronic devices must be turned off and stored in backpacks before entering campus

  • There is no student drop-off in front of the school

    • Students may enter from the north side by the park or the south side near the Library (see map below)

  • Students should bring their agendas, charged laptops, and chargers every day

  • Please review the student handbook located in the agenda before the first day of school

  • Every Friday is School Spirit Day! Wear purple, black, grey, or a Woodcrest shirt

  • Dismissal is at 3:15 PM

Thank you,

Mrs. Taylor

Counselor Corner

💬 Counselor’s Corner: April 20th–24th

Dear Students and Families,

We are entering the week prior to state testing, and this is an important time for students to stay focused, confident, and prepared. Let’s continue working together to support our Wolverines as they get ready to do their best!

📚 Academics – Testing Preparation:

Encourage your student to stay on track with assignments and review key concepts. Remind them that testing is an opportunity to show what they have learned this year.

Tips for Success:

• Get a good night’s sleep each night

• Eat a healthy breakfast

• Arrive to school on time

• Stay positive and try your best

• Take your time and read questions carefully

Students can also use Paper, our free online tutoring program, for extra review and support.

🌟 PBIS: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe

During testing, it is especially important that students demonstrate respectful and responsible behavior. A positive testing environment helps everyone succeed. Keep earning PBIS points through positive actions and effort.

💜 Social-Emotional Support:

It’s normal for students to feel a little nervous before testing. Encourage your child to stay calm, take deep breaths, and remember that effort matters more than perfection. Confidence grows when students believe in themselves.

🏫 Community & School Connection – Supporting Student Success:

Families play a key role in helping students prepare for testing. Creating a consistent routine at home, encouraging positive thinking, and celebrating effort can help students feel ready and supported.

At Home Support Tips:

• Set a consistent bedtime routine

• Limit screen time the night before testing

• Encourage and praise effort

• Help students stay organized and prepared

Let’s work together to help our Wolverines feel confident, prepared, and ready to shine during testing! ✨💜

Drop Off and Pick Up Options

Dear Woodcrest Families,

To help keep our students safe, please follow our designated drop-off and pick-up procedures:

South Side (Bon View Entrance)

  • Enter from Bon View (next to Liberty Elementary).

  • Pull forward toward Campus before stopping.

North Side (Driveway Past the Gym)

  • Enter the driveway past the main office and the gym.

  • Continue down the second driveway and follow the loop to exit.

Front of the School (Campus Street)

  • You may use the pull-in section along Campus Street for drop-off or pick-up.

  • This is not part of the driveway.

🚫 Not Allowed

  • No drop-off or pick-up in the driveway directly in front of the office.

  • No parking in school parking spaces for drop-off or pick-up.

  • No stopping or parking in the private community across from the school.

    • This is private property, and the community has informed us that vehicles will be towed or ticketed.

Why This Matters
Students use the crosswalks in our parking lots, and unauthorized driving through these areas creates safety hazards.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all Wolverines Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!

Phones need to be turned off and in backpacks prior to entering the gates, along with earbuds, headphones, any electronics.

PBIS Spirit Points and Student Involvement

Grade levels earn spirit points throughout the school year and the grade with the most points at the end of the year earns an extra end of the year activity.
