Principal's Message

Dear Woodcrest Families,

Welcome back from Winter Break, and Happy New Year to our Woodcrest community! We hope everyone had a restful and joyful break, and we’re excited to begin the new year together.

This Wednesday and Thursday, our students will be reviewing our school-wide expectations and setting academic and personal goals for Trimester Two and Three. They will also be setting their goals for Essential Standards Assessment #3 and reviewing the end-of-year expectations required for participation in school events and activities. Forms will be coming home with students—please take a moment to review, sign, and return them as soon as possible.

Please be sure to save the following important dates:

  • Basketball Tryouts: January 14th & 15th

  • Parent Engagement Meeting: January 14th at 4:00 PM in the Library

  • McTeacher Family Night: January 22nd from 4:00–8:00 PM

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a successful and exciting Trimester Two!

Go Wolverines!

Please ensure your student:

  • Arrives to school and each class on time.
  • Comes prepared and ready to learn each day.
  • Brings their school ID, charged laptop and charger, and all necessary materials.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support in helping every Woodcrest Wolverine succeed!

Important Reminders:

  • Student ID badges must be worn daily. If a student does not have their ID they can go to the office to have one printed for them for the day. On the 3rd instance they will receive a lunch detention for not being responsible. It is the student's responsibility to wear it daily. ID Badges are used during lunch time to speed up the process for students getting their lunch in the lines. If students do not have their ID's on them they will be asked to go to the back of the line as to not hold up the lunch lines.

  • Hats and Hoods are not permitted to be worn on campus

  • No Gum on campus

  • Phones, ear buds, headphones, and all electronic devices must be turned off and stored in backpacks before entering campus

  • There is no student drop-off in front of the school

    • Students may enter from the north side by the park or the south side near the Library (see map below)

  • Students should bring their agendas, charged laptops, and chargers every day

  • Please review the student handbook located in the agenda before the first day of school

  • Every Friday is School Spirit Day! Wear purple, black, grey, or a Woodcrest shirt

  • Dismissal is at 3:15 PM

Thank you,

Mrs. Taylor

Principal

Counselor Corner

💬 Counselor’s Corner: January 5th–9th

Dear Families,

Welcome back, Wolverines! We hope everyone had a restful and joyful Winter Break. As we return to school this week, it’s a great time for students to reset routines, refocus on goals, and start the new year strong.

📚 Academics:
Now that we are back in Trimester 2, encourage your child to:

  • Review grades and class expectations

  • Get organized with materials and assignments

  • Set one academic goal for the new year
Starting strong in January helps students stay on track for the remainder of the trimester.

🌟 PBIS:
As we return to campus, we will continue to reinforce our school-wide expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. Positive choices in the classroom, hallways, and common areas help everyone have a successful transition back to school. Students can continue earning PBIS points and redeem them in the Wellness Room/Zen Den before school.

💜 Social-Emotional Support:
Transitions back to school can be exciting but also challenging. Remind your child that it’s okay to take time to adjust. Encourage healthy routines such as getting enough sleep, managing time effectively, and talking with a trusted adult if they feel overwhelmed. Our counseling team is always here to support students, families, and staff.

We’re excited to begin the new year together and look forward to a positive, productive start for our Wolverines!

📘 Before School Intervention has started!
Before School Intervention Program for students who need extra academic support.

  • Days: Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

  • Time: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

  • Location: Library
Students who are struggling in their classes should see Miss Torres for a Before School Intervention Permission Slip. A parent signature is required in order to attend. This is a great opportunity for students to get help, improve grades, and strengthen their learning before the trimester ends.

With care,

Miss Torres & Ms. Morales Garcia

Drop Off and Pick Up Options

Dear Woodcrest Families,

To help keep our students safe, please follow our designated drop-off and pick-up procedures:

South Side (Bon View Entrance)

  • Enter from Bon View (next to Liberty Elementary).

  • Pull forward toward Campus before stopping.

North Side (Driveway Past the Gym)

  • Enter the driveway past the main office and the gym.

  • Continue down the second driveway and follow the loop to exit.

Front of the School (Campus Street)

  • You may use the pull-in section along Campus Street for drop-off or pick-up.

  • This is not part of the driveway.

🚫 Not Allowed

  • No drop-off or pick-up in the driveway directly in front of the office.

  • No parking in school parking spaces for drop-off or pick-up.

  • No stopping or parking in the private community across from the school.

    • This is private property, and the community has informed us that vehicles will be towed or ticketed.

Why This Matters
Students use the crosswalks in our parking lots, and unauthorized driving through these areas creates safety hazards.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all Wolverines Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!

Phones need to be turned off and in backpacks prior to entering the gates, along with earbuds, headphones, any electronics.

As the weather is changing we still have sweatshirts available for purchase!

Purchase Spirit Wear in the Office to support our ASB!

PBIS Spirit Points and Student Involvement

Grade levels earn spirit points throughout the school year and the grade with the most points at the end of the year earns an extra end of the year activity.
