Dear Woodcrest Families,
We’ve officially wrapped up our first week of school, and what a great start it’s been! Our students spent the week learning our school-wide expectations, building new friendships, and getting to know their classroom routines. The energy and enthusiasm around campus have been inspiring.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome everyone to Back to School Night next Friday, August 15. It will be a fun evening with Wetzel's Pretzels, Kona Ice, and more—so bring the whole family!
A special thank-you to all the families who completed our feedback survey. We truly value your input and appreciate your continued support in making Woodcrest the best it can be.
Important Reminder: CVUSD’s Device Protection Plan is now available for purchase through August 31 for $40. This insurance will cover any accidental damage to a student’s laptop, charger, or stylus for the school year. Without the plan, all replacements or repairs to a student's device will result in a $50 charge for each incident. For more information, visit our school website or see Ms. Wiarco, our school librarian. The plan can be purchased online through MySchoolBucks or in person at our site for $40 cash.
Go Wolverines!
Important Reminders:
Student ID badges must be worn daily. Reminders will be given up until the 15th. If a student does not have their ID they can go to the office to have one printed for them for the day. It is the student's responsibility to wear it daily.
Hats are not permitted on campus
Phones, ear buds, headphones, and all electronic devices must be turned off and stored in backpacks before entering campus
-
There is no student drop-off in front of the school
Students should bring their agendas, charged laptops, and chargers every day
Please review the student handbook located in the agenda before the first day of school
Every Friday is School Spirit Day! Wear purple, black, grey, or a Woodcrest shirt
Dismissal is at 3:15 PM
Thank you,
Mrs. Taylor

Dear Woodcrest Families,
To help keep our students safe, please follow our designated drop-off and pick-up procedures:
South Side (Bon View Entrance)
North Side (Driveway Past the Gym)
Front of the School (Campus Street)
🚫 Not Allowed
No drop-off or pick-up in the driveway directly in front of the office.
No parking in school parking spaces for drop-off or pick-up.
-
No stopping or parking in the private community across from the school.
Why This Matters Students use the crosswalks in our parking lots, and unauthorized driving through these areas creates safety hazards.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all Wolverines Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!

💬 Counselor’s Corner: Starting Strong This School Year
Dear Families,
Welcome to a brand-new school year! As your school counseling team, we’re here to support your child’s growth in academics, behavior, and social-emotional well-being. Here’s how we’re working together to help students start strong:
📚 Academics The beginning of the year is a great time to set goals and build good study habits. Encourage your child to:
- Use a planner or digital calendar to keep track of assignments.
- Set aside a regular homework time and quiet space at home.
- Ask questions in class and seek help early if needed.
🌟 PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports)
Our PBIS program focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors through our school-wide expectations: “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe”.
Families can help by:
- Talking about what these expectations look like at school and at home.
- Recognizing and praising your child when they meet expectations.
- Asking about PBIS celebrations or rewards they’ve earned. Have them show you 5STAR.
💙 Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) We know that emotional well-being plays a big role in academic success. This year, we’ll be teaching skills like self-awareness, relationship-building, and responsible decision-making. At home, you can support SEL by:
- Asking open-ended questions like “What was the best part of your day?”
- Encouraging healthy ways to handle stress (exercise, talking, drawing, journaling).
- Modeling kindness, empathy, and problem-solving.
We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to partnering with you to ensure every student feels supported, capable, and ready to succeed—academically, behaviorally, and emotionally.
Here’s to a great year! — Your School Counseling Team
